Second hand clothes traders seek permanent market

Women secondhand clothestraders have appealed to Kano State Government to provide them a place to do their business.The women made the call in interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Rimi Market, Kano, recently.HajiyaMariya Adamu, a trader, said, the business was considered illegal by some people, who assumed that they bought and traded in stolen goods.'People assume that we buy stolen items and some people usually harass us to confiscate our sales and they claim to be working for the government.'So, if the government provides a market for us, we will have no fear and we can prove to everyone that we buy clothes from legal sources,' she said.MalamaUwani Takari, another trader, said they would be very happy to have a place of their own to operate.'It will be a dream come true and we'll never be harassed if the government provides us with a place we can call our market.'Women who bring goods to us will no longer live in fear of being harassed as many of them have seen how we have been harassed but that is where we raise our food by helping them to solve their problems as well,' said Maimuna.
