Mimiko tasks commissioners on governance

ONDO State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has enjoined the new members of his cabinet to utilise their privileged positions for the benefit of the people and not for personal aggrandisement.Speaking at the swearing-in of new commissioners over the weekend in Akure, he said: 'As part of a government's committed social transformation, you are expected to hit the ground running. I expect you to within the next few weeks come up with your ministries well-articulated work plans that really align with our 12-point agenda of development.'It has been my unique privilege to preside over and guide the unfolding transformation of Ondo State and its people from a position of apparent decline into that of accelerated development. We now have to face the task of building upon the giant strides already achieved in all departments of governance.'Those sworn-in included Mr. Kayode Akinmade (Information), Mr. Akin Adaramola and Alhaji Yekini Olanipekun who were returned to their former Ministries of Economic Planning and Budget as well as Youth and Sports Development respectively.Others were former Natural Resources Commissioner, Remi Olatubora who is now in charge of Education, Igbekele Daodu; Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sola Ebiseni, who was Commissioner for Environment during the Adefarati era retaining the same portfolio, Mrs Olayinka Alabi; Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo; Natural Resources and Ademola Olorunfemi; Agriculture.The rest were Deji Falae (Culture and Tourism), Tayo Oluwatuyi (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), Mrs. Margaret Akinsuroju (Adult, Vocational and Technical Education), Mr Tayo Akinjomo (Commerce and Industry), Taye Akinyele (Employment and Productivity), Nicholas Tofowomo (Transport), Dayo Adeyanju (Health).Meanwhile, Mr. Eni Akinsola, the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Media has been named his new Chief Press Secretary, replacing Mr. Kolawole Olabisi who now heads the State Advertising and Signage Agency.Other appointments as unveiled in a statement by Akinmade are Mr. Fola Amure , a lawyer, as the Chairman of the of the State's Teaching Service Commission to replace, Akin Adegboye who is now Senior Special Assistant to the governor.
