Ondo gov approves N400m for community projects

The Ondo Stategovernment saidit had commenced work on additional 30 community development projects in various communities of the state.The projects were part of the 75 approved by the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko under the roll out Phase II of the Confidence Building projects of the state.The Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperative Services, Clement Faboyede, said in Akure that the governor had already approved N400 million for the execution of the projects.He said the amount would be used as mobilisation for the 30 projects and equipping 40 basic health centres constructed under the programme.According to him, the 30 new projects were those identified by the various communities during the needs assessment embarked upon by the ministry.The commissioner added that the projects include health centres, town halls, rural electrification, rural feeder roads, grading among others.Faboyede stated that many of the projects had already been flagged off, while the rest would be done before the week runs out.He explained that out of the 150 projects embarked upon in the phase I of the programme, almost 100 had been completed and they include 86 basic health centres.He said 30 of the basic health centres had been equipped, while another 40 had been approved to be equipped under the new contract.The commissioner said so far, government had spent about N3 billion on the community development projects across the state.Speaking on cooperative services in the state, he said government had registered no fewer than 14, 000 cooperative societies for smooth operation.He also said different credit windows worth N3 billion had been opened for the cooperative societies in the state.
