Ogun govt donates borehole to Asore community

The Ogun StateGovernment hasassured rural communities in the state of its readiness to upgrade them into urban standard within the next four years.The assurance was given by the state deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, at the commissioning of a borehole project donated by the state and a solar project donated by Schneider Electric at Asore village, in Ado/Odo Ota local government area of the state over the weekend.Adesegun who represented the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, said the vision was necessary in order to make villages habitable for the dwellers, adding that the development would limit rural-urban drift.A statement signed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Special Duties, Mrs. Kemi Oyeleye, noted that the project in partnership with the electric company was a mark of the administration's commitment towards rural development.The governor also promised to provide good road and primary health care centre in the village within the shortest period of time.Earlier, the state commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso,described the project as a pilot scheme to be replicated in villages across the state.The Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Professor Abubarkar Sambo commended the electric company for complementing the effort of the state government in rural development.He advised the state government to adopt solar power for all communities saying that it would give the people a sense of belonging.In his own remarks, the Vice-President, (Power) Schneider Electric Africa, Mr. Guillame Schoebel, said the project was first of its kind in Nigeria and Africa at large.
