Ondo gov's wife charged govts on N/Delta communities development

The wife of the ondo State governor, Mrs Oluwakemi Mimiko has tasked governments at all levels to solve the challenges facing the people in the Niger Delta communities by initiating programmes that would enhance the social and economic life of women in the region.The governors' wife who said this during her maiden visit and interaction with women in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state, also charged women in the region to be actively involved in politics to enable them have good representation in government.Mrs Mimiko noted that womenfolk is an instrument of political change and major factors in the nations economy which, deserved government's attention and should be properly integrated into the politics of the Niger Delta region because of their political and economic value.She said government at both federal and state levels should come up with policy that would enhance and sustain the economic lives of the women in the region.To actualise this agenda, Mrs Mimiko said there should be synergy between the federal and state governments and that other relevant agencies in the region should be keyed in into the programme.The governors' wife who decried the level of moral decadence among school children, advised parents to utilise the knowledge gained at the occasion to improve on the education and social life of their wards so that their future career can be guaranteed.While assuring the people of the state of the readiness of the present administration to better their lots, the governors' wife charged mothers in particular, to discourage their daughters from evil influence and ensure that they are engaged in productive activities on daily basis.She disclosed that her office would be willing to assist them in all relevant areas that will make them feel the impact of government through provision of basic and social amenities.Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the the government, Banji Okunomo, had lauded the governor's wife for initiating the 'Abiye' Programme which he said would allow government discover and address the plight of the women appropriately.
