Imo gets 2011 Public Service Games hosting right

IMO State capital, Owerri, has been chosen as host of the 2011 edition of theFederation of Public Servant Games (FEPSGA).Talking to The Guardian at the Independence Day edition of the monthlyFEPSGA keep fit walking and jogging exercise in Abuja, FEPSGA President, Sani Suleiman, disclosed that the leadership of Games has concluded discussions with the Government of Imo State for a hitch-free hosting of the event, adding that it would soon announce the exact date for its commencement.Suleiman, who confirmed that civil servants in the country would compete in a total of 13 sports, noted that committees have been set up to screen the athletes. While urging all the ministries and agencies to commence preparations for the Games, he noted that the delay in fixing date for the event was due to the football play-offs, which were yet to be completed.'We had so many entries for football this year and it is obvious that we cannot take all the registered teams to Owerri,' he disclosed. 'So we decided to conduct a play-off for all the registered football teams. As soon as the football play-offs are completed, we will announce a date for the Games.'We have almost concluded discussions with the Imo State Government for the hosting of the Games before the end of the year.
