Ibadan hosts London 2012 Paralympics Games trials

AFTER missing the 10th All Africa Games in Mozambique, where para table tennis was expunged from the tourney, Nigerian athletes who are hoping to make the team to the 2012 London Paralympics Games will now converge in Ibadan this month for the final trials.According to Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Ismaila in Egypt has been named venue of the Africa qualifiers for the London Games. The trials to select Nigeria's representatives at the qualifiers will hold from October 18 to 20 at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State. Players are expected to compete for places in classes 1 to 10, while the Egypt qualifiers holds next month.For the Ibadan trials, the NTTF urged the players to come with their international travel documents as well as their international classification cards, if they have. The athletes for the trials will be drawn from the states while accommodation, feeding, transportation and other expenses will be burn by the states. Selected players for the Egypt qualifiers will resume camp immediately at same venue.However, the African Championship for Para Table Tennis - the Egypt 2011 - will be organised by the Egyptian Paralympics Committee under the auspices of the International Table Tennis Federation (Para Table Tennis Division) and African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).The venue of the championship, which serves as London 2012 Paralympics Games qualifiers, is north east Egypt on the west bank of the Suez Canal, known as The City of Beauty and Enchantment. The splendid Olympic Village in Ismailia will be the venue of the tourney, which holds from Sunday, November 6 to 10Team and singles events will be staged in all classes with events amalgamated depending on numbers and at the discretion of the referee.
