Three Nigerians fighting for Gaddafi killed in Libya

THREE Nigerian immigrants allegedlyfighting for ousted Libyan leader, Col. Muammar Gaddafi, were reportedkilled by forces of the National Transition Council (NTC) at the weekend.Accordingto Hamada Radio International monitored in Kaduna yesterday, thosekilled were Ugochukwu Okafor, aged 33; Emeka Aloysius Mohammed, 33 and Braimoh Robinson Garba, 30.The Nigerian unionin Libya, the report said, has alleged that the Nigerian government had abandoned its consularresponsibility on stranded Nigerians in Libya.'Some of the Nigerians were shown on a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) programme presented by Zainab Bedawi over the weekend', Hamada Radio stated.'Despite the recognition giventhe NTC by President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerians and other blackAfricans were subject of attack by the rebel forces.'An NTCsource said the hostility against Nigerians might not be unconnected with the belief that Gaddafi's followers weresheltered in Kano and some Northern Nigerian cities.''The most recent case was the arrival of family members of the formerLibyan Ambassador to Nigeria, late MohammedSherrefedeen, who held both Libyan and Nigerian nationalityand was a fluent Hausa speaker.'He served as Gaddafi'sAmbassador in 1980 along with Gen. Yussef Dbiri, whose motherwas from Nguru, Yobe Stateand Gen. Khaled Haoussawe, also from Kano,' the report added.
