Vigilance group condemns robbery attacks at Iwo

The Osun State vigilance group has condemned a recent bank robbery at Iwo which claimed the life of a police inspector and left many people injured.The state vice-chairman of the group, Alhaji Talikawat Akinkunmi-Akeweje, made the condemnation while speaking with Community News at Ikire recently.Akinkunmi, who decried the recent raiding of four banks at the same time in Iwo said, "this has never happened in the history of the country. This should be given a curious look by our state police command, as well as the state government".The vigilance helmsman said further, "the incenssant happenings of bank robbery in the state has called for serious action to curtail any future occurrence of such act."These robbers came with sophisticated weapons which superceeded the weapons used by the police security operatives.The state government in conjuctions with the state Police Commissioner, Mr Olusegun Solomon, should provide adequate security gadjets and equipment."Akinkunmi also urged all inhabitants of Ikire community and its environs to be security conscious at all times, in order to forestall any attempt of the men of underworld in distabilising the peace of the town.
