Urhobo nation inaugurates 12-man peace committee

WORRIED by the seeming political disunity in the Urhobo nation, a 12-man committee has been inaugurated to work out the modalities for the merger of the Urhobo Political Forum, (UPF) and the Urhobo Consultative Forum (UCF).The committee which was inaugurated recently, at the residence of Chief G.N.O Sefia, was given two weeks to come up with a workable recommendation for the smooth merger of the UPF and UCF that were hitherto led by Chief Ighoyota Amori and Chief Tom Amioku, respectively.Members of the committee, which were drawn from the two groups, had Chief Ighoyota Amori; Chief Moses Odibo; Chief Monday Igbuya; Chief Solomon Ighrakpata; Chief Ebenezer Okorodudu and Chief Faith Majemite representing UPF; while Chief Tom Amioku; Chief Terry Noah; Chief Michael Adiotomre; Dr. Steve Oru; Mrs. Evelyn Ojakovo and Chief Robert Onome representing UCF.Chief G.N.O Sefia, in his remark, shortly after it was inaugurated told the committee to work towards the establishment of a new united Urhobo Political group within the PDP to replace UPF, UCF and any other similar groups and to propose a suitable name for the new organisation.He also told the committee to recommend a functional framework and organs at both the center and Local Government levels for the effective operation on the new organization with a specific role for the elders amongst others,.He added that both groups would merge into one body with a view to face the challenges confronting the urhobo nation.
