NCF selects two Nigerian women for Elite Ladies Academy

TWO Nigerian women cricketers, Ruth Ayannaike and Blessing Etim, have been selected by the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) to attendan Elite Ladies Academy (the first in Africa) in Benoni, Johannesburg, South Africa.The academy is being organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Regional Office and the programme is scheduled to run from the 14th to 17th of this month. With the emphasis recently shifting to T20 Cricket, ICC Africa felt that the Elite Academy should focus on the introduction of this format of cricket to continent's lady cricketers.The scheduled event will focus on Seam Bowling and Batting.According to the NCF General Manager, George Wiltshire, arrangements have been made for the players to depart Nigeria for Johannesburg on October 12 andreturn to Nigeria at the conclusion of the academy on the 18th.He disclosed that the programme would begin each day at 09:30a.m and conclude at 16:30p.m, adding: 'The organisers have assured us that as this is the first Elite Ladies Academy, the programme would be quite fluid and dynamic.
