Osun community demands return of land by Air Force

Landlords inKelebe Omun , inOlorunda Local Government Area of Osun State, have appealed to the Federal Government to assist them in retrieving 700 acres of the land belonging to the community but acquired by the Nigeria Air force .According to the leaders of the community, the land was acquired in 1973 for the purpose of using the portion of land for training of its officers by the Air Force , but the NAF was said to have relocated the training to another state in the Northern part of the country , and rather than the Air Force returning the land to the community, it resorted to selling it to the members of the public .The leaders of the community insisted that, the land was their inheritance, and since the Air Force was no more using it for the purpose it was acquired, it would be good that, the land be returned to the owners .Presenting a photocopy of advertisement placed for the sale of the land , the leaders of the community said , even some portion of the land that was not acquired initially, is now being encroached on. They however, Appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to assist them so that, they can reclaim their land .They claimed the land was used as farm land by their grandparents , but the Air Force had since started uprooting the farm produce, and they were not given anything in return .
