Federal Poly, Bali gets new rector

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Dr. Saidu Umaru Jen as the substantive rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bali, Taraba State.The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa'i, conveyed the appointment, which is for a term of four years in the first instance, in a letter.Born in 1957 at Jen, in the Karim Lamido local government area in Taraba State, Jen holds a doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Industrial Technical Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). He had been the acting Rector since 2008.He was deputy rector, between September 2005 and October 2007 and was the director, Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship and Community Empowerment at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa state, between October 2007 and December 2008.The new rector, who has several publications to his credit, is also a fellow of several professional bodies, which include the Nigerian Association of Technologist in Engineering, Institute of Registered Administrative Managers and Association of Business Specialists and Entrepreneurs.He is married with five children.
