Senator elected into African parliament

VICE Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has been elected into the Pan African Parliament (PAP).He was one of the 28 new members from eight countries sworn-in at the fifth ordinary session of the second PAP, which opened on Monday in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.In a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Michael Jegede, the lawmaker, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, expressed joy over his emergence as a member of PAP and promised to do the country proud in the continental body.He said: 'I see it (election) as a challenge and an opportunity to represent my country at the level of the African Union (AU) to which the Pan African Parliament is affiliated to. I will not disappoint Nigeria because I will make sure that our voice is heard at that level of parliamentary activities.
