Published by Business Insider on Sun, 17 Mar 2019

Cindy Yang, the founder of the spa chain that was busted earlier this year in a massive sex-trafficking investigation, appeared to orchestrate a series of political donations to President Donald Trump's re-election campaign, according to a report from The New York Times.A series of at least nine associates and family members maxed out their contributions to the campaign ahead of a March 2018 dinner at Mar-a-Lago that Yang reportedly attended. A photo and dinner with Trump cost $50,000.One woman that reportedly donated who worked at a massage parlor owned by Yang's family told The Times that Yang came to her work and helped her fill out the check.Any reimbursement for such donations would be illegal. It was recently discovered that Yang also started a business that promised access to Trump, his family, and Mar-a-Lago.Li "Cindy" Yang, the founder of the Florida massage parlor that was recently busted for allegedly selling sexual services to Patriots owner Robert Kraft, appeared to orchestrate a series of political donations to President Donald Trump's campaign from spa employees who worked at various family businesses, according to a report from The New York Times.Despite $5,400 personal contribution limits to political campaigns, at least nine of Yang's associates reportedly donated exactly that much ahead of a March 2018 dinner and photo-op which required a $50,000 contribution, according to the report.Yang and her associates reportedly ended up donating over $54,000, according to donation records reviewed by The Times. Yang ended up attending the party, as evidenced by the signed photo of her and Trump (above) that she posted to Facebook. The donors reportedly included a 25-year-old beauty school employee, a massage parlor receptionist, and one of her associate's that was charged following the prostitution bust that ensnared her former businesses. All of them were associated with businesses that were at one point run by Yang's family, according to The Times.Read more: Founder of busted Florida massage parlor chain reportedly ran business promising access to Trump at Mar-a-LagoThe receptionist, Bingbing Peranio, reportedly told The Times that Yang helped her fill out the check while she was at work, saying, "I can't say she was pushing me or not pushing me, but I worked there then." Any form of reimbursement for the campaign donation would be illegal.Other donors reportedly declined to comment. The Times report follows a series of reports from Mother Jones that unearthed a website for a company, GY US Investments LLC, started by Yang and her husband that promised to provide access to the president, the first family, and Mar-a-Lago.The website included pictures of Yang with members of the Trump family.Yang's association with Trump was first noted after she posted a selfie with him on the day of the Super Bowl from Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.According to Mother Jones, Yang and her family have donated $42,000 to a Trump PAC and over $16,000 to Trump's presidential campaigns.Yang founded Jupiter Day Spa and the chain Tokyo Day Spas, which were part of the massive sex-trafficking and prostitution bust that swept up Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who is reportedly close with Trump, and Republican mega-donorJohn Childs. Yang sold the chain 10 years ago, was not part of the bust, and has denied any knowledge of illegal activity.Join the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: What El Chapo is really like, according to the wife of one his closest henchman
