Residents of Osebele village appeal to Oyo govt over collapsed bridge

THE residents ofOsebele village,Amugbekun road, Wire and Cable area Apata, Ibadan, have appealed to Oyo State government for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge linking the community to Eleyele, Olude, Kuye and Amugbekun areas of the city .The bridge got damaged following the last August downpour in Ibadan.According to the chairman, landlords association of the area, Mr Segun Kolawole, the bridge collapsed after so much pressure, bacause the waterway had been blocked.He said the bridge was surrounded by fish ponds, which also hindered the free flow of water through the drainage.His words: 'This has caused a lot of problems in the area, the bridge got sunk following the downpour of August 26, 2011 and we have informed the Ido Local Government chairman caretaker committee, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, who directed us to the Director of Works of Ido Local Government, who was not around then but a representative was sent to check the place. Since then, nothing has been done to it .'He said members of the community now lived in apprehension for the fear of what could happen if there is another downpour .'We are appealing to Oyo State government under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi to see to the matter, so there will be free movement in the area.
