S/East govs demand new states

THE South-East Governors' Forum, onSunday, rose from its one-day meeting, with a demand for new states in the geopolitical zone of the country.This is just as it warned that it might not support the proposed constitutional amendment if the demand was not met.Addressing newsmen shortly at the end of the meeting at the Government House, Enugu, the chairman of the forum and Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi, said an additional states in the zone would address the current imbalance in state creation in the country.According to the governor, the zone would not be disposed to the proposed constitutional amendment if the additional state was not added to area.Joined in the meeting by governors of Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi states, Governor Obi, who said the situation was unacceptable to the people of South-East, demanded justice on the issue.On the issue of the proposed removal of oil subsidy by the Federal Government, Obi said the governors would discuss the issue and make their position public later.
