Mentally ill drivers on the rise on Nigerian roads - Ogunlesi

The Chief MedicalDirector and Provost, Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Dr. Adegboyega Ogunlesi, recntly revealed that most Nigerian taxi drivers are mentally ill, considering the way and manner they drive on the roads.He noted that the driving pattern of these drivers called for concern, hence the inauguration of Special Marshal Officers of the hospital, he added that the decoration of all special marshals numbering eight was as a result of the hospital collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), in an effort to minimize road accident in the country.Ogunlesi, however, charged the special marshal to demonstrate true patriotism to their father land in discharge of their duties as good citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.'Remember the work you have embarked on is work for humanity and your reward is in heaven. Therefore, you should all show true spirit of patriotism to the voluntarily work.'The hospital will help the special marshals in their noble and laudable course to minimise road accident and educate drivers across the country,' he added.In her goodwill message, the Chairman of the Neuropsychiatric Management Board, Chief (Mrs) Iyabode Apampa, commended the efforts of the FRSC and the Provost for their good work at ensuring that road accidents were reduced to the barest minimal level.
