Oko-Oba residents seek govt's intervention on dilapidated bridge

Residents of Oko-Oba in Agege areaof Lagos State have appealed to the state government to rehabilitate the bridge and carnal that had been neglected for a long time in the community.Speaking with Community News, a resident in the area, Idowu Olaseni, said that both the bridge and the carnal had been in a terrible state for the past 10 years.He also said that several attempts were made by the community to ensure that the bridge and the canal were rehabilitated, but that the efforts proved futile.He added that apart from the lives and property that were lost, the downpour on July 10, the bridge also collapsed.Olaseni also disclosed that the road where the bridge is, was the only access route for pupils attending Oladoje Primary School.Another resident, a teacher, who did not want her name in print, revealed that the school authority had alerted the state government on several occasions, saying 'government had sent a team of engineers to inspect the place'.She appealed to the authority for urgent step in order to secure lives and property in the community.
