Group honours Alufohai, NIQS president

ONE of Nigeria's most prestigious social clubs, The Ikoyi Club 1938, has honoured one of its members, Mr. Agele Alufohai, on his recent election as the National President of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS).The ceremony, which held at the Club's Golf Section, recently, was an all-day event that attracted friends and well wishers of the celebrant, and involved a kitty, as well as a reception hosted by club members to round off the ceremony.Colleagues and friends at the event paid glowing tributes to the new President, Mr. Alufohai, who is also the Managing Partner of Costec Consultants, a firm of quantity surveyors and project managers.The Chairman of the Ikoyi Club 1938, Mr. Giwa Osagie expressed his trust in the professional qualities of Mr. Alufohai, saying: 'Alufohai has got all it takes in every detail for success. He has brought a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the Club and worked selflessly in all Club activities he has been engaged in. We are convinced that given his background, he will succeed as President of NIQS'The NIQS President thanked the club members for the honour of the reception and promised to utilize his wealth of experience to move the association forward. He said that he would justify the confidence reposed in him and assured that his tenure will be marked by innovation, transparency and accountability.Alufohai, the new President of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, is a seasoned Quantity Surveyor who worked in G.Cappa Plc, a foremost construction company, for nineteen years before he retired and went into private practice fourteen years ago. A graduate of Yaba College of Technology, Mr. Alufohai holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management from the famous College of Estate Management, University of Reading, United Kingdom, and a Masters Degree in Project Management from the University of Lagos. He also attended the Master Class Programme in Management at the London School of Economics and Political ScienceHe is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors and a Member of the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors of United Kingdom and Ireland. Mr. Alufohai has co-authored several textbooks and reference materials, among which are Installation and Measurement of Electrical Works in Building, Management Estimating and Budgeting for Electrical Installations, among others.He is an avid sportsman who holds membership of several clubs, which include Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, IBB International Golf and Country Club, among others.
