Published by Tribune on Tue, 11 Oct 2011

FOLLOWING several calls in some quarters that Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia be sacked due to the inability of the team to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nation, the former member of the Nigeria Football Association, Dr Leke Olaiya has different opinion. In his view, changing the coaching crew or sacking the coach will only add to the problem rather than do the country any good, noting that the next Nations Cup and World Cup is around the corner.According to the former President, Nigeria School Sports Federation,''there is no need to sack th coach or disband the coaching crew because it will not only draw the country back but will destroy the game in the country and the fact that another Nations Cup is around the corner, that, means we will start all over again, so I will advice that the crew be left alone and find a lasting solution to the problem of the team which I will blame on complacency on the part of the players'',he said.Speaking further, the President, West Africa School Sports Union, also believed that the ouster of the Super Eagles from the forthcoming nations cup should be seen as a season of change on the continent because countries like Egypt, Cameroun and South African will not be part of the Nations Cup and this should serve as a lesson to the country that there are still have lot to be done to correct the normally in the country's football''Meanwhile,AN Osogbo based sports analyst, Mr Adedire Adeagbo at the weekend called for the removal of the Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia.Mr. Adeagbo who made the call in a release made available to the Tribunesports, said that the coach was not competent enough to take the club to the promise land saying he is too rigid to be understood by all and sundry. The sports analyst further remarked that if well scrutinized, one will see that since Siasia emerged as the Super Eagle coach, there have been multifarious problems facing the club and which are yet to proffer solution to due to their ambiguity. He said if the club coach could be removed, remarkable things in terms of intimidating achievements would be recorded by the team in the round leather circle.Mr. Adeagbo while assessing the performances of super Eagle so far, described the team as hopeful but charged all stakeholders to be up and doing to make its dream a reality for according to him, it is only in togetherness, that .successes and victory could be achieved.'Honestly speaking, the club is as agile as ever, what it needs is to see a more competent hand that will take it to the promise land. Our players are not bad, they are professionals and if a good coach could give them a direction to follow, they will become second to none when compared to other clubs in the world, 'He argued.
