NFF charts new course for Nigerian football

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regretted failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for next year's Nations Cup and has demanded its technical committee to table recommendations for the way forward for Nigerian football.In a communiqu issued after an emergency meeting in Abuja Sunday, the NFF executive committee ordered the technical committee headed by Chris Green to come up with recommendations on the way forward for Nigerian football, which the Executive Committee will then consider for implementation'.NFF president Aminu Maigari and several other top officials originally slated to accompany the team for today's friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana in London preferred to stay back for the meeting.The NFF executives described as an embarrassment the non-qualification of the team despite the support they received from all quarters.One of the targets set for Eagles Samson Siasia when he was appointed in November was to qualify the team to the 2012 Nations Cup.He has since been queried by the NFF technical committee over the failure to qualify for the tournament to be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in January.The NFF also directed that a national technical director be hired without further delay.Former Nigeria skipper Sunday Oliseh was at a time contacted for this post but it appears negotiations broke down.
