Legislator plans to invest N10m on people-oriented projects

A member of the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Ken Chikere, says he is investing his N10 million housing allowance and car loan on people-oriented projects.Chikere, who is representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, gave the hint at a stakeholders meeting at the weekend in Port Harcourt.He said small and medium-scale businessmen and women in his constituency would receive loans under a micro finance scheme.According to him, no collateral would be required to obtain the loans and that they would be interest-free.Chikere urged other public-spirited legislators from the constituency to emulate him, stressing that the scheme would empower the beneficiaries and improve their standard of living.In his remarks, Mr Chike Woluchor, a former chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government, commended the politician for his initiative.He said that the stakeholders forum was the first of its kind in the constituency.
