Oron youths commend FG for elevating Maritime Academy

Youths in Oron, in Akwa Ibom State, have commended the Federal Government for its plan to elevate the Maritime Academy in the town to a university.Reacting under the auspices of Conference of Niger Delta Youth Leaders (CNDYL), the youths said that the upgrade of the institution would transform Oron into an economic and maritime hub in the West African sub-region.The group's spokesman, Mr Enenyi Okon noted that the community had already donated land for the needed expansion of the institution.He urged the Federal Government not to allow any inference from any quarters to influence the selection of key officers for the school and in its administration.Okon also appealed to the government to improve on the infrastructure in the community, saying that it would not only aid the proposed university but would also boost the economy of the town.They said that it was their wish to support the good intent of the government in the elevation of the institution and urged all stakeholders in the maritime sub-sector to pool resources to put the school on a good footing.
