Delta tribunal admits certified copy of result in constituency election

A CERTIFED true copy of the result of the April 26 election into the House of Assembly in Burutu I Constituency, was admitted in evidence by the Justice Uzoamaka Ogwuirike-headed Delta StateNational and State Houses of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Asaba at the weekend.The respondent's witness, Mr. Justice Akumah had told the court that there was no election in Ward 11 of the constituency but that he signed the result as ward agent to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, which was peaceful, free and fair in the constituency.Mr. Julius Pondi of the opposition Democratic Peoples' Party (DPP) who is contesting the election of Mr. Daniel Yingi of the PDP on the ground that there was no election in the 29 units of Ward 04, nine units of Ward 07 and two units in Ward 10, wants the court to cancel the results as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the units.
