SOKOTO State governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, at the weekend, took a swipe at the People's Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party has failed Nigeria and Nigerians, calling on the people, irrespective of their religious and ethnic affiliation to unite, with a view to effecting positive change in the country.This is even as he called on members of the opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC) to protect their votes, during next year's general election in the country, in order to guard against the dictatorial tendencies of the ruling PDP.Speaking in Bogoro, the headquarters of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, during the formal distribution of 2,269 empowerment items by the member of the House of Representatives representing Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Federal constituency, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, Wamakko stated that Nigerians were worse off today than they were four years ago.In order to effect a positive change in the country for the people to have a better life, the governor stated that the Nigerian electorate had to not only come out enmasse to vote in the 2015 elections but also ensure that they protect their votes.Represented on the occasion by a former Minister of Sports, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, the Sokoto State helmsman urged Nigerians to be united in order to effect the kind of change they desire.According to him, 'looking for positions shouldn't cause problem among us, otherwise, we will be laughed at.'Also speaking on the occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Right Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, stated he was in the Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro axis of Bauchi State because of the late Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who he described as a true nationalist, and for his relationship with Honourable Dogara.According to him, 'I came here not as APC member but as the Speaker of the House and I came with some of our APC and PDP members to show solidarity to one of our reliable members, whom we rely on for counsel.'While commending Dogara for his giant strides in representing his people at the National Assembly, Tambuwal declared that Dogara had been providing good and credible representation for not only his constituents but also Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.He, however, warned the people of Tafawa Baewa, Bogoro, Dass Federal constituency against not re-electing Dogara in next year's elections to represent them at the National Assembly, saying that they would be doing great disservice to themselves if they failed to re-elect him.Tambuwal, then called on Nigerians across the country to embrace peace, irrespective of differences that existed between them, noting that, 'without peace we cannot have any reasonable achievement.
