Published by Tribune on Wed, 12 Oct 2011

THE partnership between Dellynetwork Travels and Tours Limited and holiday Resource Company has been as a lubricant to the wheels of tourism promotion in Oyo State and Nigeria.Senior Special Assistant to Oyo State governor, Mrs Adebisi Oladokun, said this while declaring the new office apartment of Dellynetwork at Shop 143, Premier Hotel, Mokola, Ibadan open recently, adding that the collaboration would foster unity among practitioners in the two inseparable industries, which would instigate a rapid growth in the industries.'For tourism and travel industries in a blessed country like Nigeria to experience the expected rapid growth, there is a dire need for solid synergy among the stakeholders in the industries, with a mutual public/private partnership. This is because tourism development and promotion is not a one-man show.'Two of the highly reputable outfits in the tourism and travel industries, Dellynetwork Travels and Tours Limited and Holiday Resource Company, have just corroborated this and set a good pace, by their collaboration, which is worth emulations by other stakeholders in the industries. This development is a laudable and phenomenon,' Oladokun said. The partnership between the two companies, according to the chief executive officer of Dellynetwork, Mr Ayodele Christopher-Mimiola, was informed by the need to accelerate the growth of travel and tourism industry in the state and the country at large, and foster unity among the practitioners in the industries.'The quintessence of a good partnership between travel agents and tourism promoters is not only healthy for the industries in the country, but also for the practitioners. So, we are setting the pace for others to follow. I believe without any reasonable doubt that this development will instigate the long overdue development in the tourism and travel industries in Oyo state.'We cannot just fold our arms and watch tourism activities in the state and the country at large being totally shrouded in mystery. We have got to rise to the occasion, hence our coming together. This, I believe, we will calculatedly achieve sonnest,' Christopher-Mimiola said. The chairman, Holiday Resource Company, Mr Babatunde Adesokan, who corroborated Christopher-Mimiola's claim, added that the collaboration would, among other things, enlighten Nigerians about tourism and relaxation, promote vocational and educational tours.'The level of awareness about tourism and its activities in the country is not encouraging. The result of this has adverse effects on its development and acceptability in the country. And that is why we are not enjoying the goodies the revenue-yielding sector has in stock for us. It is high time we addressed this. Dellynetwork Travels and Tours and Holiday Resource Company are saddled with the responsibility of enlightening the public on the importance and effects of tourism on the state and country's economy and individuals' lives,' Adesokan said.He noted that the companies will liaise with the appropriate groups and individuals to achieve this, adding that 'we will also woo private and multinational organisations, and schools to afford their staff and students the innumerable goodies tourism and relaxation have in stock for them.
