Oct. 1 blast: SSS arrests 3 more suspects including a banker

The Department ofthe State SecurityService (SSS), on Tuesday, disclosed that it had arrested additional three suspects, including a banker, over last year's Independence Day celebration bomb blast in Abuja.Briefing newsmen in Abuja, the department's spokesperson, Mrs Marilyn Ogar, an Assistant Director, Public Relations, said the three suspects were picked up at different locations in the country within the last two weeks following painstaking investigations carried out within and outside the country.Mrs Ogar said one of the suspects was alleged to be an expert in Improvised Explosive Devices and was also said to be a key figure in the October 1 bombing having procured all the explosive devices used, packaged and wired the vehicles and finally moved them from Port Harcourt to Abuja for final placement at the point of detonation.According to her, the second suspect, a banker, is believed to have handled all the financial transactions of the financier of the operation, as well as the fund transfers to other suspects to facilitate gun running activities in the creeks of the Niger Delta.The third person, she said, was a key figure in the distribution of arms and ammunition to the militants and other components that were used in the Independence Day bomb blast.
