Offers tailor-made products for SMEs in NigeriaSAP has predicted a surge in the uptake of cloud services across the globe, especially in the emerging market, where it is fast gaining recognition. According to SAP, this would invariably made the market to hit the $160 billion mark by 2020.Presently, SAP revealed that 80 per cent of new software solution would be provided as cloud services, adding that one-third of all software purchases would be as a service.Revealing this at the weekend in Lagos at the SAP world tour conference in Lagos, SAP EMEA President, Mr. Frank Cohen in his presentation said that with the world changing moment by moment, the need for businesses, in all categories to embrace the cloud technology had become highly imperative.Cohen, who said that with the entire industry rapidly changing, which was powered by technology and connectivity, adding that the impact of development through technology in areas including, telecoms, healthcare, media and publishing, pharmaceuticals, businesses among others were fast becoming the order of the day, making live more dynamic.According to him, mobility is changing the way we live, work, shop and play. He added that about 900 mobile carriers share 4.5 billion subscribers globally, while 90 per cent of the world data were created in the last two years.Besides, in his presentation, he explained that it took 38 years to reach 50 million audiences with the radio, while the television set took 13 years.He also said that the Internet, iPod, Facebook took four years, three years and two years respectively to reach an audience of 50 million.Cohen, who said that Africa was mobilising at a geometric rate said that it took the continent 25 years to reach the first 200 million phone subscribers, adding that it woul take the next three years for Africa to reach the next 200 million.Also speaking, the Country Manager, Mr. Richard Edet, who said that SAP would empower Nigerian Small and Medium Scale enterprises with solutions capable of transforming them into a larger entity said that SAP market leading mobile solutions would unwire business enterprises.He added that the enterpise mobility, which included device management, messaging and the application platform would help business organisations to leverage and improve financial standings.He said that the SAP High Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) ran 350 times faster on any device, anywhere, anytime and above all helped organisations to improve efficiency.Edet said that the nature of Nigerian businesses, which were mostly SMEs required solutions that were tailor made to give sensibilities to owners and ensure that the capacity was also built around it.The SAP Nigerian country manager, who said that SAP was in talks with bandwidth providers including MainOne and Glo1, noted that the need to maximise the resources had become highly imperative.
