Twitter Reacts to Angel Di Maria Joining Manchester United

Published by Bleacher Report on Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Angel Di Maria's transfer move from Real Madrid to Manchester United had been rumoured for several days, and on Tuesday, the club officially confirmed the 59.7 million signing via Twitter:The Argentine international was one of Los Blancos' top performers in 2013-14, but the signing of James Rodriguez started an avalanche of transfer speculation that finally resulted in his move to Old Trafford.Blessed with pace, trickery and an eye for goal, Di Maria's best position is out wide, but he also has the versatility to slide instead and use his speed to run straight at overmatched centre-backs.ESPN FC's Tom Marshall seemed to voice what most fans were thinking:The Red Devils are breaking the British transfer record to bring the mercurial Di Maria into the fold, and fans of rival clubs will be quick to judge the transfer based on the large sum United are paying for his services. But Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward know exactly what they're paying for: One of the best pure wingers in the world, with the production to back up his sterling reputation. The Sunday Times' Duncan Castles shared some of the contract info:Fans of Real Madrid had been vocal in their support of Di Maria all summer, enraged Florentino Perez would even contemplate the man who powered the club in the final stages of the UEFA Champions League. Futbol Agent shared this image:The club's official Twitter account shared some early comments from Di Maria on his new club:Van Gaal was also ecstatic with his latest asset:BBC Sport's Howard Nurse is a big fan of the move, but he expects even more players to arrive before the end of the transfer window:Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe thinks the World Cup hero will register strongly on the Premier League stat sheets:As shared by Squawka, Di Maria will bring a whole new level of play-making ability to the Red Devils:Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez was mainly interested in the tactical ramifications of the move:Fans of Manchester United have had little to cheer about in the past few weeks, but all of that changed when the club were finally able to land a world-class name Van Gaal can build his squad around. The Red Devils now have the pieces in place to be one of the Premier League's deadliest attacking teams, and with one or two key signings on the defensive end, United's 2014-15 campaign could have the makings of a very successful one.Follow @ReverschPassRead more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
