AS the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Technical committee meets today in Abuja to decide the fate of the Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia after missing the slot for next year's Africa Cup of Nations, Austin Eguavoen believes Siasia deserves a second chance.Former international teammate of Siasia and current Nigeria's Olympic team coach, Eguavoen told Tribunesports yesterday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium that the country stands to gain nothing by sacking the Super Eagles coach.'' Siasia must have made some mistakes which resulted in the disappointing outcome for the country. I believe that he must have learnt some lessons which will be useful to him in future,'' he explained.''As a result of this, I will not want him sacked as being speculated in some quarters because sacking him is not the lasting solution to the problem,'' he said.The former Super Eagles player who expressed sadness over the country's inability to qualify for the AFCON 2012 also beleives that there is need for continuity.''We are building a new team for the country and should we sack the coach or the entire coaching crew now, that means we are starting all over again and at the end of the day achieve nothing because we will be in the same situation. To avoid such, the coach should be allowed to continue and be given more time,'' he said.It would be recalled that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the AFCON 2012 following their 2-2 draw with Guinea in Abuja last Saturday in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.Meanwhile,SUPER Eagles players are still being castigated by Nigerians for their disastrous outing on Saturday against Guinea in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the National Stadium, Abuja.The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the Nations cup competition next year having played a 2-2 with Guinea in a qualifying match.Notable among the players singled out for blame by Nigerians are Osaze Odemwingie and John Mikel Obi for their lacklustre attitude.Tunde Babajide, an engineer with an oil company as contained in an email sent to the Tribunesports said,''Osaze and Mikel should be held responsible for the poor result because they are not committed and have no respect for the country,'' he said.Gbenga Ajao, who expressed sadness over the results said: 'how can the players explain their action on that day, they are not good players, if you watch the match very well,you will know that they are not serious, how can Osaze explain those embarrassing misses,it was unprofessional and disgraceful for a player of his status to miss such begging chances.''Many other Nigerians also blamed the players for the ouster of the country in the race to the African Cup of Nations.
