Published by Tribune on Sat, 15 Oct 2011

A mammoth crowdof the PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP) supporters, on Thursday, appeared to have overwhelmed the security agents stationed at the entrance to the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, as they were allowed entry without protocol to felicitate with the state governor, Mr Patrick Yakowa, who was declared winner of the April 2011 guber polls in Kaduna State by the tribunal.Yakowa, who could not hide his excitement, told the gathering that now was the time to fulfill his promises to the people of Kaduna State, by ensuring that democracy dividends reached the nooks and crannies of the state.According to him, it would be wrong for PDP supporters to use the occasion for any other purpose but to preach peace and unity among the diverse people of the state, adding that as a governor for all, he would continue to extend a hand of friendship to the opposition.Yakowa, who was together with the deputy governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalam Yero; the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Lawal Samaila Abdullahi, the state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Yau Usman Sa'in Jema'a and other government officials, thanked the people of the state for their patience while the tribunal was on the case between him and the gubernatorial candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Alhaji Hauna Saeed Kajuru, saying that he would never disappoint them.Meanwhile, it was jubilation galore across the state, especially for the PDP supporters who were seen dancing and singing praise for the PDP and Yakowa.Earlier, the governorship election petition tribunal in Kaduna had dismissed the petition of the CPC governorship candidate, challenging the election of Governor Yakowa as the governor of Kaduna State.
