Oyo Hosts Seaman Schnapps National Ayo Tourney

THE second edition of the Seaman Schnapps National Ayo Championship begins today in Ibadan with several top players expected to attend the championship. It ends on Friday.President of Nigeria Traditional Sports Association, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Abdullahi commended the sponsors, Grand Oak Ltd for throwing its weight behind one of the five traditional sports under his association.'All is now set for the second edition of the National Ayo Championship and we must commend Seaman Schnapps for giving the game a lifeline. We have put in place mechanism to improve on some of the achievement of the inaugural edition in Benin City where we had 24 players in attendance,' he added.According to the Marketing Director of Grand Oak Ltd, Aare Fatai Odesile, the company had been in the forefront in the propagation of Ayo.'It is pertinent to state that that the Seaman's Ayo Championship is a culmination of years of consistent propagation of the game of Ayo by the company across the country.The competition will take place at the Plaza D' Aruna Hotel, Oyo with players vying for honours in five categories -singles, doubles, mixed double, men's double and women's double.
