Stay focused, Onigbinde urges Dream Team V 'Dream Team V decamps 9 players

FORMER national team coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde has asked the National U-23 team to remain focused as the team paid a condolence visit to Onigbinde following the passing on of his wife, Chief Regina Omonike Asunke Onigbinde who died last Sunday.The team led by Head Coach Austin Eguavoen proceeded straight to the Modakeke high chief's home in Felele area of Ibadan immediately after the team's morning session.While calling on Nigerian coaches handling the National teams to operate an open door policy towards their colleagues, the Eagles coach to the 2002 World Cup, charged Austin Eguavoen to stay focused on the task ahead.'I have read different stories concerning your team, over who is in-charge of this, who should handle this and what have you. Please remain focused and remember that if anything goes wrong it is you Nigerians would hold responsible'He described the failure of the Super Eagles to win a 2012 Nations Cup slot as sad.'It is sad, very painful but that's what we face as coaches. The result affects us all,' he stated. Onigbinde described Nigerian football as a case of the root and the fruits of a tree.'Nigeria football can be likened to the case of the root and the fruit. Everyone wants to eat the ripe fruit but forgets that the fruit gets its nutrient from the roots.'Meanwhile,NINE players have been decamped from the Nigeria Olympic football team's camp in Ibadan, Tribunesports gathered yesterday.The Dream Team V, camping at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium for its second phase camping towards an Eight nations round robin gives the names of decamped players as Arikpo Martins, Tunde Adekunle, Ganiu Omosanya and Uche Daniel. Others are Taiwo Femi, Tunde Kareem, Paul Aremu, Daniel Itodo and Okpotu Anthony.Meanwhile, Ocean Boys Ayo Saka, Femi Thomas, Warri Wolves Chimieze Mbah and Wisdom Wisdom ( unattached) joined the team yesterday while Heartland's Osas Okoro is expected to join the camp today. The team will from next week engage in friendly matches with premier league clubs.
