SOMETIMES, I am really amazed at the enormous talents and intellectual capital embedded in the Nigerian youth. But there are many imperative questions arising in my heart about the future of the youth of this great country- Nigeria. We live in a nation where it seems as if the hope of the Nigerian youth has been dashed and quashed and the government of the day has no tangible drafted programme for repositioning the youth. As a Nigerian youth, I speak the mind of my fellow Nigerian youth. It is not a question of what can we do for our country because we are not lazy, but it is a question of how the government and privileged individuals in the society can encourage us to do what we know best'There is high rate of unemployment for graduates from local and international universities staring at the face of the Nigerian youth, lack of encouraging facilities to develop the talented ones and the negligence of their civil rights in Nigeria democracy and policy. There is a cry in our hearts for a sense of belonging in the society and in government programmes; we are willing and ready to help in national development if given the platform. The average Nigerian youth work so hard to contribute to the growing economy. The potentials, gifts and talents of the Nigerian youth are wasting on daily basis as a result of negligence on the part of the government and privileged individuals in the society who do not believe in us.One thing that beats my imagination is the unperturbed patience of the Nigerian youth as regards involving themselves in any major protest, violence and perpetuation of crimes compare to other nations where the youth cannot condone any act of marginalization. It is really a big credit on the part of the Nigerian youth. For instance there was a recent riot by London youth for a decrease on their monthly allowances which led to insecurity of lives and lost of properties. Although, the recent bombings being witnessed by Nigerians is purely a condemnable act by a sect of religious fanatics. But as cultured and civilized Nigerian youths we do not take laws into our hands.My advice to the government of the day is to consider these as a priority, the creation of job opportunities for the youth, provision of vocational centers for human development, maintenance of facilities that will enhance and harness youthful potentials and also create a platform for more youth to engage their abilities in political leadership. The good deeds of the young African-American president, Barrack Obama speak so clearly that when we give the Nigerian youth a chance in any capacity they will deliver as well. Government should invest in human resources especially in the youth which is the strength and future of this nation.My advice to the Nigerian youth, we are in a world where there are wide scopes of opportunities and fast growing technology. Every Nigerian youth, locally and internationally should take advantage of these good opportunities around him to contribute to the development of this country. You can make effort and think of developing that ability resident inside of you that can project the good image of this country in the outside world. Shun violence, cultism, lawlessness and all forms of social vices because these can only take us back to the under development and economic instability. Refuse to be used by politicians to hunt political opponents or cause mishap.Nigeria and Nigerians has not failed yet, we only have a weak leadership system undergoing transformation.God bless Nigerian youth in their quest for a better Nigeria.
