Baba Suwe: NDLEA insists on due process

The National DrugLaw EnforcementAgency (NDLEA) has said that the ace actor and comedian, Babatunde Omidina (aka Baba Suwe), being detained for investigation by it, will be made to undergo due investigative process as he excreted the second time without drugs.It also called on members of the public to exercise patience pending the outcome of investigation activities, just as the agency urged stakeholders to make necessary sacrifices for the collective interest of all law abiding citizens and for the sake of national security.A press statement signed by the spokesman of the anti-drugs agency, Mitchel Ofoyeju, a copy of which was obtained by the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, said the comedian had, on Saturday evening, made another excretion and that no drug was found.He will be under observation.The actor who was to board an Air France flight to Paris at about 10.00p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos was said to have tested positive to drug ingestion thus leading to his arrest and investigation" the statement said.Also, the NDLEA airport commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar, said the actor was still being monitored in safe custody.According to Hamza, 'it is important to follow due process. Members of the public should be patient. There is reasonable ground for suspicion and it is crucial to allow due process take its course. He is fine and has gone for the first and second excretion but no drug has been found on him thus far. It is just the normal process for all passengers.
