Published by Tribune on Mon, 17 Oct 2011

Mr Chukwunonso Odo, wholost the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship primaries in Ogbodu Ward, Udenu Local Government of Enugu State, has donated a 300 KVA electricity transformer to his community. In a remark in Udenu recently before handing over the transformer to the community, Odo said that having been schemed out in the councillorship bid would not prevent him from fulfilling his campaign promise to the people.'You remember that during my campaign, I promised to attract electricity transformer, if elected. You gave me all your support but I was schemed out.'My decision to become councillor is not to make money but my passion to render selfless service to my people,' he saidHe said his decision to donate the transformer was borne out of a vision to alleviate the plight of the people as well as quicken the realisation of the community electricity project.'I am not dissuaded with the outcome of the party primary election. When God's time comes, they cannot stop me. They succeeded now because it's not God's time,' he said. The donor urged Governor Sullivan Chime to extend his wonderful work in the state to his community. 'Our people are basically farmers and you can see how terrible the roads are. I urged the governor to extend his wonderful works to the community, given the deplorable state of roads in the area,' he said.Receiving the transformer, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Peter Eje, expressed happiness that the transformer would boost the ongoing electricity project in the community'I commend the donor on this kind gesture and urge other wealthy citizens of the community to emulate him.'I pledged that the transformer will be put into judicious use,' he said
