When the position of Super Eagles Coach became vacant after the dysmal performance of Super Eagles at 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the Nigeria Football Federation (N.F.F), called for coaches to apply for the vacant position at that time. Some football analysts in the country who arrogate to themselves, the efforts of football administration in the country, refused to agree that only expatriate coach is good for Nigeria, the duo of Steven Keshi and Samson Siasia were shotlisted for the job.Because of the way we do things in this country, sentiment, selfishness and above all, the syndrome of who you know in the corridors of authority, gave the job to Siasia, when everybody knew, Keshi's credentials far surpassed that of Siasia.Keshi was able to qualify an African country to World Cup, qualified another country to Nations Cup, yet because Siasia comes from the same State as the President, he was given the coaching job to the detriment of what we are seeing today with his unforgiving attitude, lack of technical know how.Coach Siasia should have known, Nigeria should field all its best players to achieve this singular qualification to Nations Cup coming up in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, but what we saw was to punish this country because of high handedness by not fielding players that would do the nation proud. When Vincent Eyeama was dropped during our match against Madagascar, everybody said it was a right decision but when he refused to field him against Argentina in last friendly, people now started to develop fear that Siasia was going too far with such decision that would boomerang. Now, we have seen the result. Siasia cannot manage the players. He has been at loggerheads with them all. This is the result we have seen now.Siasia happens to be the only indigenous coach that has the support of the entire Nigerians, but he fialed to use such opportunity to bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians. The statement by the Sports Minister, Alhaji Sulieman that Nigeria should not rush in deciding the fate of Siasia clearly shows, he wants to protect him because he does not want to annoy the Presidency. He should allow the Technical Committee to have its final say, because Nigerians would not support any retention of Siasia as Nigeria's coach. The Minister's insinuation that not only Nigeria's Super Eagles could not be at the Nations Cup, because other countries like Egypt, South Africa, Algeria and Cameroon too would be out is not acceptable especially coming from somebody that should be worried about the poor state of football administration in his country. We are talking of Nigeria not making it to Nations Cup, other countries should equally mind their football misfortunes. Everybody should carry his own cross.Let us have a clean slate with a foreign coach that would not be sentimental while carrying out his duties. Nigerian coaches have failed Nigerians. Enough of such embarrassment of soccer-loving Nigerians.Bala NayashiNo 1Yashi AreaLokoja.08033559403
