Please, pray for us 'Eucharia urges fans

Published by Tribune on Tue, 18 Oct 2011

SUPER Falcons' coach, Eucharia Uche has enjoined Nigerians to seek the face of God at this trying moment of the country's football.Apparently disturbed by the spate of poor results churned out by the country's teams of late, the former Nigerian striker whose girls will face the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in Yaounde at the weekend for the London 2012 Olympic Games ticket, told SuperSport.com that time has come for Nigerians to move closer to God for solution to our sliding fortune in the round leather game.'This time calls for sober reflection. People should now know that it is not only by physical strength that victory comes but by also trying to seek God's face. I think the time is ripe for us as a nation to carry out a national divine reflection,' she said.Within a space of 10 days, the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the final of the 2012 Afcon, Sunshine Stars were beaten at home 0-1 by Club Africain of Tunisia in the Caf Confederation Cup first leg semifinals, while Enyimba got bundled out from the Caf Champions League in Aba by Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco. However, still waxing stronger in her faith, coach Uche informed SuperSport.com that God will deliver her team from the snarl of the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon comes October 22.'Those that know their God will be strong at the period of tribulations. I know with God all things are possible. My God will give me victory in Cameroon,' Uche said. The erstwhile no-nonsense lethal finisher further revealed that her foreign imports will arrive in the country latest on Tuesday.'I am in touch with the players and have got firm assurance that they will be with us today (Monday), or worst case situation, on Tuesday. Onome Ebi is the only foreign-based player with us at the moment,' she said. The other foreign-based players expected are reigning African Footballer of the Year, Perpetua Nkwocha, and the trio of Sweden-based Faith Ikidi, Rita Chikwelu and Helen Onyi Ukaonu. The Super Falcons will take a 2-1 advantage to their Central African foes.Winners of the crunch tie join South Africa as the continent's representatives at the global multiple sports fiesta.
