NDLEA dispels rumour on Giade's resignation

THE National DrugLaw EnforcementAgency (NDLEA) has described the rumoured resignation of its chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mallam Mohammadu Giade, as not only untrue, but a figment of the imaginations of some unscrupulous Nigerians and foreigners alike, who did not like the strides so far recorded in its war against drugs peddlers.The anti-drug agency stated this on Monday, while speaking through its head of Public Affairs Department, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, adding that the rumour was strange.'And i think if we want to calculate the way we have been arresting suspected drugs syndicates, seizing their illicit drugs and charging them to court, including our official complaints whenever the courts found them guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment, how would you want these aggrieved people with whom we had dealt a dead blow on their illicit trades to be happy with us'' Ofoyeju asked.He said the Federal Government and the high command of the NDLEA would not be surprised if some unscrupulous Nigerians also came up with the theory that the agency had been closed down, adding that such falsehood was part of the price the agency had to pay for its total war for drug-free Nigerian society.
