Garrett had brought Rudolph down on the play, and after trading words, ripped off his helmet and swung it at the Pittsburgh quarterback.Garrett's swing set off a brawl that brought the game to a standstill as officials attempted to separate players from both teams. When the dust settled, the game finally reached its end, with the Browns winning 21-7.After the game, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield did not mince words when calling out his teammate for the fight."I didn't see why it started, but it's inexcusable. I don't care, rivalry or not, we can't do that. That's kind of the history of what's been going on here lately, hurting yourself, and that's just endangering the other team. It's inexcusable, he knows that. I hope he does now. It's tough. We'll see," Mayfield said.Mayfield was asked what he said to his teammates on the sidelines as he attempted to calm down the situation."I don't think there's anything in that moment that I can really say to calm him down," Mayfield said. "The reality is he's going to get suspended, we don't know how long, and that hurts our team. We can't do that. We can't continue to hurt this team. It's inexcusable."Browns QB Baker Mayfield joined @ErinAndrews after tonight's game vs. the Steelers. pic.twitter.com/xPVUIpJjQY' FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) November 15, 2019On Twitter, many commentators praised Baker for coming out strongly against his teammate, even if it might not go over well in the Browns locker room.I'm sure @bakermayfield will get criticized for calling Garrett's actions 'inexcusable' by wondering how it may play in his own locker room but he is absolutely spot on.' Rich Eisen (@richeisen) November 15, 2019Thought that was a particularly mature interview from Baker. Blindly backing a teammate in that situation would not have been leadership. https://t.co/Wk5dSw046N' Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) November 15, 2019There have been a lot of reasons to criticize Baker all season for on field performance and off field antics but this post game interview shows poise and maturity of a leader https://t.co/9KsWZ7zs11' Todd Fuhrman (@ToddFuhrman) November 15, 2019Agree with this. @bakermayfield called it exactly as he should have. Didn't hide and say he didn't see it or dodge anything. Called out his teammate and he's right to do so. Kudos. https://t.co/Ssbg9b3iOv' Matthew Berry (@MatthewBerryTMR) November 15, 2019With the win, the Browns are now on a two-game winning streak as they head into the home stretch of the season.
