Ibadan Poly rector lauds Tribune Newspapers

THE rector of The Poly technic, Ibadan, Professor Olusegun Ayobami Odunola, has commended the management of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publisher of the Tribune titles, for its valuable contributions towards the growth and development of the institution in the past four decades.Professor Odunola made the submission, when he led other management team of the institution to the Tribune House, Ibadan, as part of the activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the institution, adding that the institution looked at the Tribune as its newspaper, coupled with its rich historical background.He said the management team of the institution was at the Tribune House to intimate it on the ongoing activities of its 40th anniversary and to thank the management for the assistance given to the students of the institution on industrial training programme in recent years.While saying that the institution had involved in the production of well-qualified manpower in different fields of human endeavour since its establishment, he said there had been a lot of reformation and re-engineering in the institution recently, so as to meet the 21st century requirement of a technologically-based institution.Professor Odunola said the curriculum contents of various programmes in the institution had been upgraded to meet the technological invovation of modern period and allow the graduates of the institution to be self employed.He, however, said the institution survived despite long years of military administration and solicited better partnership from the Tribune titles.Responding, the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief, ANN Plc, Reverend Sam Adesua, commended the management of the institution for being a true friend of the oldest surving national privately-owned newspaper and assured the team of viable and sustainable partnership.Reverend Adesua lauded the institution for allowing people to develop themselves, adding that the Tribune titles would cintinue to have interest on issues that would promote the image of the institution.Other management team members of the ANN Plc on the occasion included the Controller, Human Resources, Mr Fola Oke; Senior Manager, Advert, Mrs Bisi Yomi-Layinka; Editor, Sunday Tribune, Alhaji Debo Abdulai; Senior Manager, (Sales and Distribution), Mr Adeolu Adeyefa; Chief Internal Auditor, Mr Ayokunle Olaoye; Senior Manager, (Nursing), Ms Biodun Ajewole and Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr Femi Olukunle.
