In the light of self sustainability

Published by Tribune on Mon, 21 Mar 2011

In August 2010, a man added me on facebook with the curiosity to know more about who is behind the insignia on my facebook profile - Promoting Self Sustainability.  On our first day of chat, he asked several questions concerning online business, but he asked one spectacular question that gave him a solution he had wanted a long time. My response also gave him a practical idea of my insignia. The brief chatHe asked me, is there any internet business that guarantees sustainable income I answered: Yes, acquiring a skill, you can sell continuously online because it will be needed just like you need your barber. I quickly added, Acquiring skills like, blog development, online forum development, website development, information marketing, etc.  But because of its simplicity, I advised him to start with forum development. I said to him, personally, I charge my clients not less than N7,000 for every new online (discussion) forum I build. The testimony! In December 2010, when he called to wish me Merry Xmas, he also showed appreciation,  and told me how much he had earned from developing forum for individuals, churches and training people how to develop forum. He confessed, It is really bringing sustainable income. The basisImagine that you have to walk from one end to the other in a hall where metal chairs and tables are randomly arranged. All doors and windows are closed and there is no single light. Can you imagine how many times you are likely going to fall or even get wounded But if there is just a single illumination, you can manage! The more the illumination you get, the more your assurance of getting through. The light (illumination) symbolises knowledge. Even as the brightness of illumination differs (dim to light), so, the depth of knowledge. That is the way it is in every aspect of life, even when it comes to creating sustainable income. The importSome people have lost huge sum of money in the name of doing internet business because they do not have enough knowledge  (illumination) to walk through the venture.  How well you can succeed on the internet can be determined by your level of knowledge; if you have it at all. Acquiring knowledgeIf you know that you are not good in business, there is no better way to create a sustainable source of income on the internet than to acquire a skill which you can sell. Just like the common graphics designer around your house, he has acquired the knowledge, anytime you meet him to do graphics for you, he will charge you over and over again with the knowledge he acquired for just N10, 000 or there about. That is an example of a model that works on the internet.Working modelNot so common now, but then it was. You will remember Baba Jide the plumber, Baba Titi the capenter, so anytime there is an issue; somebody comes into your mind. If you need plumbing solution, Baba Jide comes to your mind.Let me ask you, is there any solution you can provide that others can seek from you I mean, when someone thinks of a problem, will you come to mind as a solution provider If yes, then you have something of value to exchange for money. If not, then you need a re-think. Yes, the internet is not the only source of income, but its an alternative means to several ends. In other words, you can consider the internet as an alternative. That is acquiring a skill, and then creating a system of sustainable income through it.From specific to generalIt is not possible you grab everything in just one day, even a year. But you can start with something. That is, you may acquire just one skill now, and then later you will naturally add others. Like I have mentioned several times here, if you know you cant acquire technical skills, acquire skills that anybody can, observe a problem, research into the solution of the problem, write it out then offer it for sale. Meanwhile, that is the ideal behind the concept of Selling Information for Money at www.shortreportmoney.com.However, if you can acquire technical skill, you can start by learning how to develop an online forum, which is simple, then start learning the rest. But the idea is, start with something, later you go general. In general, the whole idea is that you acquire a skill that can guarantee you a sustainable system of income. Till next week, start selling something.
