In the same vein, we need to remember Allah and be conscious of His presence everywhere and His knowledge of all that we do and say. This concept of remembrance of Allah will always guide our words and actionsRemembering Allah also connotes celebrating His praises. The Almighty Allah (SWT) enjoins us in the Holy Quran to remember Him and celebrate His praises in the morning and evening. This is evident in His saying, O ye who believe! Remember Allah (very often) and celebrate his praises both in the morning and the evening. This is a commandment from our creator. The holy Prophet (SAW) said: Keep your tongue busy and constant with the remembrance of Allah. In this sense, the pattern and model of celebrating the praises of Allah was exemplified by the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself. He (SAW) used to enjoin us to say these four praises at least 100 times daily both in the morning after the dawn (Fajr) prayer and before the sunset (Magrib) prayer. These are Subuhanallah Walhamdulillahi, Wala ilaha illa Allahu, wallahu Akbar.Abu Dharr Al-Ghiffaar narrated that some companions came to complain to the Prophet that the men of means amongst them outshone them in reward because they had the means of giving sadaqah which the poor could not afford. They observed Solat and fast just like others did. The Holy Prophet (SAW) replied, Allah (SWT) has given you other means by which you can give sadaqah. He further said, every words of Subuhanallahi, Wal-hamdulillahi, Walaa ilaha illa lahu Wallahu Akbar are acts as sodaqah. (Muslim) The above hadith informs us that remembering Allah is an act of charity. The Holy Prophet also said: Kalimataani Khafifataani ala lisaani thaqilataani fil-mizaani, habibataani ila Rahman - Subuhaanallahi Wabihamdihi Subuhaanallahi-l- Azeim, meaning, These two phrases are light on the tongue, weight on the scale of action and most beloved to Allah, the Beneficient - Subuhanallahi Wa bihamdihi Subuhaanallahi l-azeem.We should not be weary of saying these beautiful words and phrases because they draw us closer to the Almighty Allah. As human beings, we know how esteemed we feel when people shower encomiums on us. In the like manner, Allah appreciates whoever celebrates His praises and remember Him often.Remembering Allah (SWT) keeps the devil (A-Shaytan) far away from us and protects us from his evil machination. Also, the soul finds its rest in Allahs remembrance as evident in the words of Allah: Those who believe and keep their soul at rest in Allahs remembrance.Verily, with Allahs remembrance the soul finds its rest.(Q29:45).By remembering Allah and celebrating His praises, our tongues are relieved of ugly music and other illicit songs.Remembering Allah is best uttered in low tones not loudly. The Islamic guidance requires that we remember Allah in our hearts, while our tongues move but not loudly. Allah (SWT) says, And remember your Lord in your heart humbly without making any noise and never be like the ignorant and fools (who shout at the top of their voices). The practice of the Prophet in this regard was that you would not hear his utterances except when he wanted the companions to learn from him. Finally, we should try to remember Allah in all that we do, when we eat, drink, dress, sleep, wake up, board the vehicle or aeroplane and as we return to our abodes. May Allah (SWT) ease His remembrance for us and keep our tongues busy in His remembrance.
