Imo Assembly pledges continued support to Heartland

HEARTLAND of Owerri will not lack funds when it begins campaign at the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, the Imo State House of Assembly has pledged.Heartland defeated Enyimba of Aba in the final of the Federation Cup last month to qualify as Nigeria's representative in the Confederation Cup next year. And in a chat with The Guardian on Tuesday in Abuja, the Assembly's Deputy Speaker, Donatus Ozoemena, said that Heartland's Federation Cup victory was a sign of good things to come for the state, as it was the first time in 23 years Imo State would be winning a national or international trophy in sports.Ozoemena promised that the legislators would encourage the team to win the CAF Confederation Cup next season by approving on time all the budgets appropriated for the club to ensure the team's comfort during the campaign.'We at the House celebrated with the team for doing the state proud,' he said. 'The qualification was a good thing for the state and shows that the government of Rochas Okorocha camein with plenty of luck for the people of the state, which Heartland has set rolling with its victory against Enyimba.
