EVER since Omawumi Boma Megbele emerged as the first runner up of West Africa Idol in 2007, the lawyer-turned-musician has not stopped upping the ante with her sonorous voice and captivating style.Her bespoke style ' uncluttered, casual, fun, chic and feminine' has won her a lot of admirers and commendations.Tagged the 'most stylish celebrity' around because of her ever-evolving style, she has uniquely incorporated African fabrics into her charming look. Catch her secret Bold and beautiful Omawumi is not afraid to show off her skin, especially her legs; this suggests why she loves mini. One distinct characteristic of mini dress is that, more than the pattern and style, which determine the accessories to select; it gives the wearer some confidence. 'I like short, stylish dresses because I like feeling sexy and comfortable. I also like short bouncy hairstyles because I love accentuating my neck and shoulder. I don't really know what it says; I just go with the flow,' she says.Right attitude does the trickMost times, we love to look like our favourite diva,but getting the right attitudewould do the trick. No doubt, Omawunmi has got that real jewel (attitude) to carry off her mini dress. If you aren't comfortable with what you are wearing, it will show. According to Omawunmi, the essence of her style is 'comfort and being sexy.' If your legs aren't well toned, it wouldn't look nice either, so, before picking a dress, train yourself to look confident and have the right attitude.Get it rightA mini dress is an accessory and style in itself, provided it's well carried. Make sure that your legs are flawless and, of course, waxed. If you have any sort of doubt on keeping your legs bare, go for leggings or tights. They look fab with a mini dress and would make you comfortable too. But while selecting a legging, plan your entire look so that you don't look odd. She advices, 'fashion is a form of identity' it is another way people can see and tell a bit about you. Fashion is all encompassing; so it's left for the individual to decide how to put the pieces together.' Accessorise all the wayMini dress looks brilliant when carried with lan, confidence and the right attitude. Like the songstress, don't add too many accessories, a simple bracelet or funky earrings may be enough. Don't over accessorise. It's fine if you select one focal point and highlight that instead of wearing jewelry in each wrist, neck, hair or ears.One accessory that you shouldn't miss focusing on is the footwear. Wear a pair of shoe that amplifies your look. 'I buy shoes anywhere as long as I love (them),' she says.You can go for casual flats to understate the look and be a casual chic or pick bold wedges or stilettos to get the diva look. The mood, the colour 'My favourite colour depends on the season, my mood, different things, but on the whole I like earth tones such as brown, orange, beige, rusty red'. Right now, though, I'm feeling fuchsia and royal blue,' she notes. Smell like her Omawunmi likes classics. Do you love the way she smells' Then go for her favourite, Elizabeth Arden, Channel and YSL. Designer it is Omawunmi, the musician-turned-fashionista, who plays the fashion-forward character, is known for spicing up the red carpet each time with her styles. From glamorous to funky, classic to outrageous, she has become a modern style icon with a chameleon-like quality.Apart from her love for fashion, she is also one celeb that appreciates Nigerian designers' from international to the upcoming ones at home.The singer explains, 'I have a lot of favourite designers; in fact, I have lost count.' She lists them: 'Ituen Bassey, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, Lisa Folawiyo, Data Okorodudu, St Genevieve, Zizi Cardow, Bawo Akinwande of Scissors and Deola Sagoe and so on.' Glow like OmaIt's no trouble maintaining her glowing skin. All she does is, have a regular bath,wash her face and use a good moisturizer and stay out of the sun or use sunscreen if necessary.
