Olurin ll make Ogun proud in tourism -Prince Dele Ajayi

Published by Tribune on Mon, 21 Mar 2011

OGUN State Peoples Democratic Partys governorship candidate, Chief Adetunji Olurin, will work on the states tourism; developing and promoting it to make the state proud in the sector and make its people benefit immensely from the money-spinning sector.Chairman, mobilisation committee of the Adetunji Olurin Campaign Organisations, Prince Dele Ajayi, made this assertion last weekend, in a brief chat with TTH.He added that Olurin, being a learned, experienced, seasoned administrator and an ambassador of peace, who had lectured on peacekeeping at the International Peace Academy, the National War College and United Nations seminars in Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal; recorgnised tourism as  a huge foreign exchange earner, and will, therefore, not leave any stone unturned to ensure its development and promotion in the state. There is no gainsaying the fact that Ogun State is a pearl of tourism potentialities, both natural and artificial; having been the gateway for many significant developments and civilisation in the country, among which are christianity and education.Ogun State has rich heritage and historical anticedent, however, Olurins administration will protect, preserve, develop and promote this heritage and ensure that its value is fully appreciated, especially by the younger generation.Hence, he will empower the existing tourism commission to vigorously carry out this objective to generate income. This will be an important instrument to strengthen the foundations of our culture and inheritances, Ajayi explained. He further said that to ensure full exploration of tourism in the state, Chief Olurin would put in place the fundamental structures for the industry to grow, develop and promote the tourist attractions in the state.Olurin will ensure the expected development of infrastructural facilities, good security of lives and property and promotion of socio-cultural values,  in the nooks and crannies of the state. These will encourage tourists, local and foreign, to visit the state, and positively affect our economy, he added. The full exploration of the states tourism potentialities, according to Prince Ajayi, will create more job opportunities for the youth, propel poverty reduction and instigate unprecedented infrastuctural development.
