ENYIMBA BATTLE KADUNA UTD IN ABA

Published by Nigerian Compass on Thu, 20 Oct 2011

NIGERIAN champions, Enyimba International of Aba, will play their rescheduled Nigeria Premier League (NPL) match against Kaduna United in Aba today. The Acting Executive-Secretary of the NPL, Tunji Babalola, revealed that Enyimba requested for the match to be played today and we agreed. The away team is already aware of the new development," Babalola said.Today's clash will be the first match for the Aba side since their exit from the CAF Champions League, last Sunday.Ironically, Kaduna United also represented Nigeria in the continent's second tier competition, the CAF Confederations Cup, but failed to reach the semi-finals.Kaduna United are seventh on the 20-team log with 52 points, while Enyimba are ninth with 51 points.Kaduna United will be without some of their top stars when they engage Enyimba in today's rescheduled Nigeria Premier League clash. The club travelled without Abdulrasheed Ajagun, Ali Adamu, first-choice goalkeeper, Richard Ochanyi, former schoolboy international, Rabiu Baita, Samson Auta and Saviour Fidelis.Ajagun headed for trials in Bangladesh on Tuesday night, while Ocheayi has just recovered from malaria.Baita is yet to rejoin the club from his base in Kano and Adamu has to attend to some pressing family issues. In the absence of Ochanyi, club gaffer, Maurice Cooreman, will depend on the duo of Chinedu Agwu and Ibrahim Pius. After today's match, both teams will join others on Week 35 matches and the stage will now be set for the concluding part of the 2010/2011 season. All 20 teams will be busy on Saturday and Sunday when Match Day 35 fixtures will be decided.
