Akwe-Doma, 8 others still in Efcc custody

Twenty-four hoursafter a former governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe- Doma and eight others who are facing a 17-count charge of money laundering preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) were admitted to bail on stringent conditions by a Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, the accused are yet to meet their bail conditions.The court had, on Wed-nesday, granted the ex-governor bail in the sum of N300 million and two sureties in like sum.The eight others were granted bail in the sum of N200 million each and two sureties in like sum.All the accused were ordered by the judge to deposit their international passports with the court and they were to remain in EFCC custody in Abuja, pending the perfection of their bail conditions.However, none of the remanded persons had been able to meet the stringent conditions at the time of filing this report.The development had made them to remain in the custody of the EFCC.When contacted on whether the accused were still in custody or not, the EFCC spokesman, Mr Femi Babafemi, said he was not aware if any one of them had been able to fulfil the bail conditions as ordered by the court.
