Bayelsa killer cop dismissed, remanded

Mike Odiegwu, YenagoaThe trigger-happy policeman, who shot a driver and other passengers in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has been dismissed, arraigned and remanded in prison custody.The policeman, identified as Egoli Ebiakpo, who was posted to a new generation bank at the Ekeki axis of the capital city, opened fire on a commercial bus belonging to Peace Mass, a popular transport company in Yenagoa.The bullet, which was shot at close range, hit the driver of the vehicle and one other passenger.The misfortune occurred opposite a Peace Mass terminus while the driver was trying to let his passengers disembark before making a detour to enter the terminus.Read Also;Kidnapped Edo teacher regains freedomTrouble started when the policeman got enraged because the driver stopped the bus in front of the bank.Ebiakpor, who was until his dismissal, a Police Constable, was indicted following orderly room trial and was immediately dismissed by the police.It was further gathered that all efforts to save the drivers life proved abortive as he died at the University Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, where he was refered to for special treatment.The second victim, who was also hit in the head, was said to be battling for survival at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Butswat Asinim, confirmed that the killer policeman was arraigned on Wednesday.He said the court remanded him in Okaka prison for subsequent trials.
